The ASC came to Jaileshuei in 2015 as the first ASC sanctioned international event in South Taiwan’s Pingtung County, with over 200 competitors from Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, Canada, Hawaii, England, the USA, and Taiwan chasing prize money and points on the Asian Surfing Championship tour circuit. Indonesia’s Dede Suryana claimed the Men’s Shortboard title and Miyasaka Rioko (Japan) took home the Women’s Shortboard title. That event established a relationship that continues today.
“We’re very excited to be coming back to Pingtung County after a few years away due to the pandemic,” said ASC’s Tim Hain. “This such a beautiful place with wonderful people, and we’ve missed it. We have a great relationship with TORSA and the Pingtung County government going back to 2015, and we really appreciate the trust they give us in helping to run their yearly event. We’re so looking forward to getting there and meeting up with everyone, and having a great time together again.”
