Tuesday, 20 May 2025, Kuta, Bali, Indonesia: The Asian Surf Cooperative is excited to announce the debut of the Asian ProAm Surf Series, with the Afulu Pro 2025 kicking off the 2025-26 season in the remarkable tropical location of North Nias from 1-3 July.
With its picture perfect lefthand point break as well as a scenic bay with fun beachbreaks, Turedawola Beach provides a warm welcome for both shortboard and longboard competitors in the clear Indian Ocean water and natural surroundings of this distinctive coastal region.
Competitors finishing the WSL QS6000 and Pro Junior at South Nias in Lagundri Bay, which will be taking place from 21-28 June, have an excellent opportunity to extend their stay in Nias and compete in a more relaxed event while enjoying a more simple and natural Indonesian experience at a lefthander, as well as take home some prize money and APSS rankings points.
This is the 3rd time the Afulu Pro will be held in North Nias, the preceding events offering just Men’s and Women’s Shortboard divisions with Bali’s Pajar Ariyana and Australia’s Willow Hardy the reigning champions, having claimed wins in both the 2023 and 2024 events. You can be sure they will be back to defend their titles, but it’s sure to be a tougher battle now that the event is a stop on the APSS tour and will draw a larger field of international competitors.
The addition of the Men’s and Women’s Longboard division will provide an even bigger drawing card, especially for those competitors like Indonesia’s Dhany Widianto and his sister Dhea Natasya who regularly compete in both short and longboard divisions, as well as other Asian region surfers. Depending upon waves conditions, the longboard divisions could be surfing the beachbreak, which offers up a variety of fun.
All APSS competitions will be on LiveHeats, the official scoring and ranking platform of the APSS Tour, as Liveheats provides the most accurate live scoring, seamless heat management, and real-time ranking updates across all tour events together with the official ranking.
The Afulu Pro 2025 starts off the inaugural 2025-26 APSS season, which started in June of 2025 and will finish at the end of May 2026. The second stop on the APSS tour will be in Tamil Nadu (Chennai) India from 15-20 July, then in October the series will go to Zhoushan, China before heading to Jialeshuei, Taiwan. Other events will be announced as they get confirmed, so keep your eyes on the ASC website and the ACS socials for updates.
